Neil Wigan was appointed the British Ambassador to Somalia in June 2013. Prior to this he was the British Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo from March 2010.Neil joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 2000 in London, where he first served for two years as Advisor in charge of UK’s Economic Policies in the European Union. He was appointed as Head of the Political section at the British Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, from August 2002 to January 2006. He then served as Head of the Middle East and North Africa Group in London from February 2006 to April 2008, before he joined the Cabinet Office as Deputy Director for Wider World in the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat, from which position he just came to Kinshasa as Her Majesty’s Ambassador.
